Archipelago
The Chagos archipelago currently belongs to the United Kingdom as British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT). In October 2024, the British government announced that sovereignty will be transferred back to Mauritius. The atoll of Diego Garcia is used as a joint UK-U.S. military base.
